"Snow White" Prickly Pear

Image 1 Image 2 Image 3

Also known as the Opuntia Erinacae Ursine. The Snow White prickly pear is very unique with its pads covered with white hair and it matures to be 5 feet tall x 4 feet wide. The Snow White Prickly Pear cactus can tolerate moderately cold nights that get down to ten degrees. Fast grower!

The Snow White prickly pear makes for a very easy care potted cactus. Always use a well draining cactus and succulent soil when planting. We offer our own growers mix for sale. All that is required when growing the Snow White prickly pear is a minimum amount of water once in a while and because of their faster growth rate, perhaps a hair cut every now and then.

In landscapes, the Snow White prickly pear draws immediate contrast with it's surroundings because of the white hair. Plant them in mass for a powerful effect or singly in smaller cactus gardens. At sunset the Snow White prickly pear appears to glow because of it's unique growth habit.

Our shipping process guarantees your Snow White Prickly pear cactus will come to you in pristine condition and wrapped in a way that makes planting easy!

Prickly Pear design and application suggestions:

Opuntias, the prickly pear family of cacti, can be used in many different ways. In the landscape, the prickly pear family can be used as a very nice contrast to other cacti and succulents. The rounded pads, beautiful flowers of yellow, orange, red and pink plus different pad colors and sizes offer distinguished contrast in the landscape or in a nice container. Some prickly pear species can be used as a succulent groundcover. Some prickly pears, like the Santa Rita “purple” prickly pear, are ideal as unique pieces interspersed throughout the landscape or a nice contrast to a group of cacti and succulents in pots. Prickly pears are also very forgiving. They will tolerate the hottest parts of your landscape and like it! The prickly pear family also thrives on very little water and can take very cold overnight temperatures.

Why purchase our Prickly Pear?

Our prickly pears are grown in their native habitat right here in Southern Arizona. Raised outdoors with just the right amount of water and fertilizer, they come to you in their natural form. These plants do not come to you from a greenhouse. They are already hardy to whatever growing conditions you have to offer. You will not see any evidence of pads getting skinny and reaching for light. The prickly pears present the same appearance as you will find them in their native habitats.

If you want to plant them in a container for a sunroom, patio or window planter, great! If you want to take your new prickly pear cacti and plant them in the ground, also great! No acclimation needed. Our plants are ready to go!

Quality and hard to find.

Plants arrived in perfect shape. Appreciated the tie that identified the South side of plant. Would never had thought of that. Planted 2 weeks ago in pots for the winter. Will transplant outdoors in the spring. Looking great and strong.

My Furry friends 😁👏👏👏

I recently received my first Snow White one year ago as a present from my son in Tucson.
All day sunlight gave it a surge of growth!!!
From 7” inches to over 3 FEET in one year.
I bought 2 more a month ago and already see the expansion 👏👍🏻👍🏻

I will send photos if you would like.
They are very unbelievably adaptable
