Pedilanthus Macrocarpus

Image 1 Image 2 Image 3

This succulent from the Baja peninsula in Mexico features pencil like green stems that grow to be 3-6 feet high and 3-6 feet wide. It is commonly known as the "lady slipper or slipper plant", named after the hummingbird friendly red flower that looks like a slipper. Reliable summer bloomer.

Ornamental Uses:

Container Gardening: Pedilanthus macrocarpus is well-suited for container gardening, making it a popular choice for patio or balcony gardens.

Xeriscaping: With its water-efficient nature and adaptation to arid conditions, it is suitable for xeriscaping and drought-tolerant landscapes.

Rock Gardens: The unique growth habit and appearance make it an interesting addition to rock gardens and succulent gardens.

Indoor Cultivation: In regions with cold winters, it can be grown as a houseplant, provided it receives adequate light.

The Slipper Plant is appreciated for its architectural form, easy care, and ability to thrive in arid conditions. Its interesting growth habit and colorful Summer time flowers make it a sought-after addition to succulent collections and gardens.

Each 5gal plant is shipped to you with a minimum of 8 stems.

Euphorbia design and application suggestions:

Our Euphorbias are tolerant of a wide range of lighting conditions. They will be happy outdoors, indoors, on patios or in a sunroom. The Euphorbias we offer also come in very unique shapes and lend themselves as unique single pieces or used to create contrast amongst other plants.

The Euphorbia royaleana looks like a columnar cactus in growth habit. As temperatures warm and days get longer, this Euphorbia starts to grow large succulent leaves. The Moroccan mound is a very unique and symmetrical looking Euphorbia, great in a pot or in the landscape. Firesticks are full of drama when the stems turn red. Candelia and Pedilanthus look great in containers or used as succulent groundcovers and border plantings in the landscape. Euphorbias also offer tremendous disease and critter resistance. In an outdoor setting, you will rarely see Euphorbias being browsed on by animals.

Why purchase our Euphorbias?

Our Euphorbias are grown right here in Southern Arizona in conditions very closely resembling their native habitats. Raised outdoors with just the right amount of water and fertilizer, they come to you in their natural form. These plants do not come to you from a greenhouse. They are already hardy to whatever growing conditions you have to offer. Our Euphorbias present the same appearance as you will find them in their native habitats.

If you want to plant them in a container for a sunroom, patio or window planter, great! If you want to take your Euphorbias and plant them in the ground, also great! No acclimation needed. Our plants are ready to go!

A stunning summer bloomer

Happy with my cactus. It has kind of a wacky shape to it once the stems start to grow more, but that's what makes this plant so fun to look at! The flowers that bloom attract hummingbirds as well, which is lovely to see during the summer.
