Santa Rita x Beavertail Hybrid

Santa Rita x Beavertail Hybrid Prickly Pear – A Unique Desert Beauty 🌵

The Santa Rita x Beavertail Prickly Pear Hybrid is a stunning cross between two well known prickly pear varieties, offering a combination of colors and shapes that make it a standout in any landscape or container garden.

This hardy, drought-tolerant prickly pear cactus thrives in climate zones 7-11.

Key Features:

Purple-Tinged Pads 🌸: This hybrid boasts the purple-tinged pads of the Santa Rita Prickly Pear, creating a beautiful contrast with its vibrant pink flowers. The pads have the characteristic flat, beavertail shape of the Beavertail Prickly Pear, making it a visually intriguing plant.

Pink Flowers 🌺: The Santa Rita x Beavertail Hybrid produces beautiful pink flowers in spring, adding a lovely pop of color to the landscape. These bright blooms contrast beautifully with the purple pads.

Compact Growth 🌱: This hybrid typically reaches about 2 feet by 2 feet at maturity, making it perfect for smaller gardens or container planting. Its compact size also makes it ideal for creating focal points or accenting other desert plants.

Cold Hardy ❄️: With its ability to tolerate temperatures down to the low teens at night, this hybrid is a hardy choice for colder climates, especially in zones 7a-11. It's perfect for regions with mild winters or areas that occasionally experience light frost.

Ornamental Uses:

Container Gardening 🪴: The Santa Rita x Beavertail Hybrid is an excellent choice for container gardening. Its unique colors and compact size make it a striking feature on patios, decks, or balconies.

Landscaping 🌵: This hybrid is a great addition to xeriscaping or low-maintenance landscaping. It thrives in hot, dry conditions, requiring minimal care once established.

Desert-Themed Gardens 🏜️: This prickly pear hybrid is a fantastic choice for desert-themed gardens or Southwestern-style landscapes, bringing both color and texture to the setting.

Santa Rita X Beavertail Hybrid Purchase

Very satisfied with my purchase so far. Cactus Outlet representative answered my questions before I made my purchase. He completed my purchase efficiently and without problems. The plant shipped very quickly and arrived in good shape as it was well packed. Included planting and watering instructions were helpful. Now I will wait a few months and see if my plant successfully grows. My experience with Cactus Outlet was very positive and I highly recommend them. Thanks guys.

Too early to tell, but we like our new cactus

I’ve potted this cactus and I move it out when it’s sunny and under cover when it rains. I will keep it inside this winter and hope to plant it permanently outside next May. If it survives all that and looks good in 2026, I’ll be super happy.
